How to Object

You may have used the wonderful AI objection tool to create your objection, which has the facility to add your own information regarding your particular locality and situation. Many objections sent in yesterday and today- a great start.

We appreciate that some may prefer to write their own objection and email this to representations@gov.scot quoting application reference ECU00005225. Please add your own name and address in capitals.
We all feel extremely emotional about this Proposed Development, but please keep your language polite.
Objections must be material considerations. So, what is a material consideration? I wondered myself for a long time.... It is an issue relevant to land use in Planning that must be considered by decision makers.. To be material, it must serve a planning purpose, and be in the public interest.
Relating concerns to planning policies makes them material considerations.

If considering writing your own objection, please relate your concerns to the National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4)

  • Policy 11 supports energy infrastructure but should NOT be considered in isolation.

  • Policy3 addresses biodiversity stating "proposals will only be supported where they are "in a demonstrably better state than without mitigation"

  • Policy 4 looks at Natural Places. "Development proposals which by virtue of type, location or scale will have an unacceptable impact on the natural environment, will not be accepted."

  • Policy 5 looks at soils. " Development proposals will only be supported if they are designed and constructed: in accordance with the mitigation hierarchy by first minimising the amount of disturbance to soils on undeveloped land; and in a manner that protects soils from damage from compaction and erosion.."

  • Policy 6 protects woodland and forestry.

  • Policy 7 protects historic assets and places, supporting proposals when "they protect, preserve or enhance their cultural significance, character and integrity and where proposals will not significantly impact on important views to, from and within the site".

  • Policy 14 addresses liveable places with " design proposals designed to improve the quality of an area whether in urban in rural locations..."

  • Policy 22 is concerned with flood risk and management and states that " a precautionary approach should be taken, regarding the calculated probability of flooding as a best estimate, not a precise forecast."

  • Policy23 state that " development proposals which are, likely to have a significant adverse effect on health will not be supported."

  • Policy 29 concerning rural development says "development proposals in rural areas should be suitable scaled, sited and designed to be in keeping with the character of the area"

  • Policy 30 aims to "inspire people to visit Scotland".

The Angus Local Development Plan also supports the environment and PV6states that “Angus Council will seek to protect and enhance the quality of the landscape in Angus." This policy can also be referenced in an objection.

Good luck everyone, let's inundate the Energy Consents Unit with objections, via the AI tool,

or your own e mail or letter, or the template letter winging it's way to as many homes as we can deliver to.
This is it- we only have one chance to protect what we hold dear.
