First Step Toward the Public Inquiry

Yesterday a small NOTKUP team took part in the online Pre-Inquiry Meeting for SSEN’s TKUP application.

As expected, this session was largely about the general housekeeping surrounding the Public Inquiry and setting out the parameters of what is to be challenged, so nothing conclusive was decided. However, we were encouraged that the DPEA Reporters listened carefully to our requests, particularly around the issues we believe must be given proper weight and our call for an additional inquiry location.

Community Councils from Angus and Aberdeenshire who opted-in also joined the meeting with a view to having an opportunity to speak at the Public Inquiry and we appreciate their support.

Our NOTKUP Project Manager, John Campbell, spoke on behalf of the aligned NOTKUP groups, who together are representing their local communities and the 11,000 people who took the time to oppose this application. Your voices are at the heart of everything we do.

We will continue to engage fully with the process and will keep you updated on the next steps and how you can stay involved.

If you have opted-in, begin to think now about what matters to you about this project, the impact it will have upon you, your family, livelihood and wellbeing and how best you can convey that to the Reporters.

It was mentioned several times that the purpose of the Public Inquiry is to give the Reporters a better and meaningful understanding of the impact of the application.

Who better to do that than those of us who have lived with it hanging over us like a sword of Damocles for almost 3 years?

No one!!
