SSEN’S FINAL SUBMISSIONS ARE IN — BUT HAVE THEY ANSWERED OUR CONCERNS?
SSEN’S FINAL SUBMISSIONS ARE IN — BUT HAVE THEY ANSWERED OUR CONCERNS?
After months of evidence and objections, SSEN’s position remains deeply concerning for everyone living and working along the Tealing–Kintore route.
LANDSCAPE: Significant visual damage is acknowledged, but the project is still defended on the grounds of national need.
FARMING: Farmers are expected to adapt machinery and working practices to accommodate the overhead line. But who carries the burden when farming becomes more difficult, costly or dangerous?
SAFETY: The electrical hazards associated with working beneath overhead lines cannot simply be brushed aside. Farmers and agricultural workers deserve clear, effective protection.
ENVIRONMENT: Questions remain over landscaping, biodiversity enhancements and when meaningful safeguards will actually be secured.
Our concern is simple: too much of the burden appears to fall on the people and communities affected, while important protections remain contested.
National infrastructure may be necessary, but that does not mean every design should be accepted without proper scrutiny.
Our farms matter. Our landscapes matter. Our communities matter.
The Reporters must weigh the claimed national benefits against the real consequences for rural Scotland.
OUR RURAL COMMUNITIES DESERVE FAR BETTER.
To read the closing submissions follow this link. Boil a kettle for a cuppa or two- SSEN's submission is there, with NOTKUP( APAG, STIG and DAP)'s closing submissions. Both coincidentally 123 pages long. We have substantiated evidence. Other interested parties' submissions are also there inclusing that from Angus Council.
Let's hope the Reporters consider our evidence.
