SSEN appeals Angus Council refusal of ‘industrial carbuncle’ Tealing substation

The challenge against the 22-bay Emmock decision comes as the energy giant faces a public inquiry into its plans for a line of ‘super-pylons’ through Angus.

SSEN Transmission is to fight Angus Council’s refusal of plans for a giant substation close to the edge of Dundee.

In December, a special full council meeting rejected the Emmock development near Tealing.

It would sit close to an existing substation at Tealing.

1,700 public objections were submitted in the largest ever response to an Angus planning application.

Local campaigners said the total area of the substation would be half the size of Camperdown Park.
